Ketty Schafer, roots are in Germany, her ancestors were immigrants who, like many others, settled in the province of Corrientes.

From her early childhood Ketty was close to the Guaraní culture, she also had access to the clay she collected on the river slope. This contact with the land and the Guaraní led her to meet other native peoples such as the Querandíes, Tehuelches, Onas, Yámanas, their imagery and worldview captured her. Following her search, she also became interested in Mesoamerican culture, which extended to our territory during its expansion, giving rise to the cultures of Alamito, Candelaria, Ciénaga, Condorhuasi, Santa María, etc.

Ketty recreates the pieces inherited from those ancestors and exhibits them in Berlin, showing that not-so-known part of our history. Her work includes both ceremonial and practical objects.

Ketty is focused on transmitting, showing, and teaching those ancient techniques; The shapes, colors, and meanings are a source of inspiration for contemporary pieces.

Ketty Schafer tiene sus raíces en Alemania, sus antepasados, inmigrantes de ese país, se afincaron en la provincia de Corrientes al igual que muchos de los venidos de ese país.

Desde su temprana infancia Ketty estuvo cerca de la cultura Guaraní, también tuvo acceso a la arcilla que ella misma recogía en la ladera del río. Este contacto con la tierra y los guaraníes la llevó a conocer otros pueblos originarios como los Querandíes, Tehuelches, Onas, Yámanas, fue atrapada por su imaginería y cosmovisión. Siguiendo su búsqueda se interesó también en la cultura mesoamericana que en su expansión llegó hasta nuestro territorio dando orígen a las culturas de Alamito, la Candelaria, Ciénaga, Condorhuasi, Santa María, etc.

En la actualidad Ketty recrea las piezas heredadas de esos antepasados y las expone en la ciudad de Berlín mostrando esa parte no tan conocida de nuestra historia, su trabajo abarca tanto objetos ceremoniales como utilitarios.

Ketty está enfocada en transmitir, mostrar y enseñar esas técnicas antiguas; las formas, colores y significados son tomadas como fuente de inspiración de piezas contemporáneas.
